Are you the UNcommon Junior Accounting Coordinator we are looking for?

As an Junior Accounting Coordinator will report to the Controller/Head of Finance. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and performing various bookkeeping tasks to ensure the smooth financial operations of the organization. Your attention to detail, strong numerical aptitude, and proficiency in financial software will be crucial in performing your duties effectively.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assisting with month-end closings;

  • Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain and update financial records, including bank reconciliations, Credit Card reconciliations, general ledger entries, assist with Invoicing clients & accounts receivable.

  • Accounts Receivable: Generate customer invoices, monitor receivables, and follow up on overdue accounts. Record and reconcile customer payments.

  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data and identify discrepancies.

  • Data Entry and Accuracy: Enter financial transactions into the accounting system with precision, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting principles, policies, and regulations. Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Documentation and Filing: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, documents, and supporting documentation in both physical and digital formats.

  • Communication: Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients to resolve financial discrepancies, address inquiries, and provide financial information as needed.

  • Financial Reporting: You may need to assist the Controller or other Finance staff in the preparation of financial reports, including profit and loss statements & balance sheets.

  • Basic Financial Analysis: Assist the Controller or other Finance staff with Basic entry-level Financial analysis tasks related to job-costing, or post project margin analysis.

  • Perform ad-hoc tasks and prepare various reports upon management’s requests;

     

Competencies

  • Experience: Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field is highly desirable. Familiarity with accounting software and tools is an advantage.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong numerical aptitude and understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits, credits, and double-entry bookkeeping.

  • Attention to Detail: Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in data entry, recordkeeping, and financial analysis.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and tools such as QuickBooks Online, Excel, or other financial management systems.

  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal teams, clients, and vendors.

  • Integrity: Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with professionalism and discretion.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues in financial records.

  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to changes in accounting practices, software, and regulations.

Qualifications & Education:

  • A diploma or degree in Accounting or Business administration from a recognized Canadian College is preferred

Location:

  • This position is based out of our Hamilton Ontario office. 

Hours:

  • Office hours are 9-5. From time to time the needs of the business may require you to work outside of office hours. Advance notice will be given as best as possible.

Compensation:

  • This is a full-time position. Midfield offers a competitive group benefits package, and work schedule. This role will offer the successful applicant room for growth and development at our agency
